Going Cruelty Free! Rebuilding My Kit

WOW! It has been forever since I last posted! I’m so sorry. I have been going through a lot of changes with my skincare and makeup and slowly transitioning my makeup to organic, natural, and cruelty free. It has definitely been a process, but my skin surely appreciates it! Not only that, but your body absorbs whatever you put on your skin and it’s a much better choice to know what is going on your face. My entire kit has not been rebuilt yet, however.. my everyday kit is now completely cruelty free and almost all natural. It’s taken me awhile to figure out which products i like, but I think I almost have it down and that’s what i am going to share with you today! Hope you enjoy! xoxo

(Please excuse the messiness. I had just used the products)

Mineral Fusion:

I had never heard of this line of makeup before, but I think they are the best/closest you can get to a quality, organic, cruelty for, “drugstore” brand. It’s sold at Whole Foods. They have some great products and some iffy products. Actually only one iffy product, and that is their volumizing mascara. Its pretty drying and can get clumpy if you apply more than two coats. Some of their great products though are their color correcting face primer. It gives your skin a beautiful matte finish and leaves it feeling super soft. You can literally see the difference just from applying this primer. Their concealer duo (I own it in cool froid) is amazing also. I contains 2 different shades of medium coverage concealer. I use the darker one for concealing and lighter for highlight my cheeks, nose, and brow bone. I also like to use their bronzer duo to conceal and highlight my face and use the bronzer in the crease of my eye to create a contour there too. After I’ve applied my face powder (another product I’ll detail down below), I use Mineral Fusion’s blush in Smashing Sensass. Its a very pretty pink that i think could honestly go with any skin type. Lastly I use thier eye shadow in Prism to highlight the center of my lid after applying my cream shadows (also, see products below).

Zuzu is another product from Whole Foods. There honestly isn’t much that is super special about it, except that they were the only natural brand that I could find that sold eyeliner pencils, and they do work well. I also use their powder to set my concealer and blend my bronzer. I’ve stopped using foundation for now until i find one that i truly love.

100% Pure

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this brand!!! They make their products with all natural ingredients and most, if not all, of their makeup is dyed with fruit for color! HOW AWESOME IS THAT?!! I use their double sided jumbo pencil, using the pink side for my lid and the brown side for my crease before blending it out  and setting it with the mineral fusion liner and powder shadow. I also use their Fruit Pigmented Eye Shadow in Halo to highlight the inner corners of my eyes and my brow bone. I use their lip and cheek tint on both my cheeks (after applying concealer and before powder and powder blush), and my lips all day. Its super smooth and Peach Glow is the most perfect color ever. It the perfect peachy pink. Lastly for my eyes, I use their Creamy Long Last Liner in Blackest to line my tight line and their liquid eyeliner in black berry on my upper lash line and wing it out.

This is another (non makeup related) item from them that I am OBSESSED with. It smells like a freshly cracked open coconut. It’s absolutely delicious smelling and makes your hands feel silky smooth. This lotion is with me at ALL TIMES.

Bdellium Tools

These are my makeup brushes. They are made from bamboo and synthetic bristles. They are 100% cruelty free, eco friendly, and even better than my sigma brushes (sorry sigma).

Fuller Lips Without Surgery

I’m really not a big fan of the Kardashians, but lately I’ve been completely obsessed with Kylie Jenner and her HUGE lips! They are insane, but I kind of love the fullness they have.  Most people, like myself, don’t have the money to pay for lip injections or want to go through the pain, or they don’t want to commit to the procedure. We’ve all seen lip injections go horribly, horribly wrong. Here is a much more cost friendly, and much less painful or permanent way to make your lips appear fuller.

1. Use a Fullips Lip Plumping Enhancer!

Fullips Lip Plumping Enhancer - Large Round

I know, it looks ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS, and the way you use it is even more ridiculous. You place it on your lips and suck in. You will feel a suction keeping the plumper attached to your lips and hold it there for 15-30 seconds. It causes the blood to rush to your lips, making them plumper for a couple hours.  It sounds insane, but it really works…

These are my lips after using the plumper, with just lipgloss on!… my lips look sooo much fuller!!! Just make sure you don’t suck too hard, or you could bruise your lips. You could honestly just stop at this point if you want… but there is more….

2. Take a lipliner one shade darker than the lip color you want to wear and line your lips.. blend the liner in towards your mouth a little bit.

3. Apply your lip color over liner and your whole lip.

4. Apply gloss to the center of your lips.

All these steps can give you the look of fuller lips without having to empty your wallet. I hope they work for you. XOXO

Perfectly Kissable Red Lips

Red lips are always a classic look. In a weird way, they kind of go with everything, and they are super popular right now. The problem with red lips though, is that red lipstick can end up getting EVERYWHERE!!!!! Well, luckily there is an easy way to deal with this problem, and it takes less than 5 minutes to do.

The solution… RED LIPLINER! That’s it! No lipstick, just liner. Specifically, M.A.C Cherry lipliner (It is the perfect red.

First, line your lips. Create an X on the cupids bow for a more accurate line.

After that, fill in the rest of your lips. THAT’S IT! Now you have a perfect matte red lip that will last hours! Good luck! Xoxo.

Chicago VS. New Jersey

I was born and raised in Chicago, but when I decided to go to makeup school I chose to go to school at The Glam Academy in Hoboken, NJ.  While there I was taught different techniques and ways to do bridal and editorial looks, all with Jersey style of course. It was a great experience, and taught me more about the makeup business and makeup application than I could have asked for. However, there is no better experience than actually practicing your craft at a salon or in another field of the makeup industry. Practicing in Chicago was a complete shock to me, because the style of makeup is so different than the style was in Jersey. Jersey style is more out there and wild. It’s all about the smokey eye and nude lip. Chicago style is a more natural look. Here are some pictures to show just how different they are …

New Jersey

Jersey girls love their smokey eye and nude lip. This is definitely an exaggerated version of the look. Some girls still go for a more subtle smokey eye, but it gets the point across. The makeup is more exaggerated and very dark. The contouring is also very heavy, and bronzer is always a must in Jersey.

Chicago girls prefer to look like they have a natural glow, almost as if they are wearing no makeup at all. The eye colors and contouring are very light and liner very thin. Eyelashes are also more natural.

Both of these styles can be stunning on any woman, and honestly both take the same amount of work and time to create. Still, it’s amazing how much the styles really differ from each other.

New Beginning

Welcome to my new makeup page! My name is Paige. I graduated from The Glam Academy in New Jersey a year and a half ago. Since then, I haven’t focused as much on my makeup as I would have hoped. So, I have rebooted my image, started trying new looks again, and am ready to get out there and make it happen this time! As part of my improved image I’ve decided to change my facebook page to https://www.facebook.com/FXDivaMakeup, I will be making a youtube channel soon, and hopefully keeping up with blogging as much as possible. I’ve tried to blog before and it didn’t quite work out. So, I’m hoping it goes better this time around. I plan on blogging about makeup trends and techniques, all the way from bridal to my personal favorite, special effect makeup. I hope you enjoy my page. Stay tuned to see what happens… xoxo
